Opinion :

My first historical romance!

It is with some trepidation, I confess, I started reading this. Unaccustomed of its kind, and with an a priori certain, however, I feel like wallowing in the marshmallow romance.

Rosamond So I discovered a young girl of 17 years, promised to a young man for several years and who intend to break this commitment because it is secretly attracted to another man.

With a strong character, a sharp mind and a strong practical sense, she has in mind all the arguments to ensure that this marriage did not happen. Alas for her, Rodger, his promise is just captivated by his fiery temperament and will have only one purpose, to succumb.

What a pleasant surprise. Virginia Henley's pen is nice, and the romance against the backdrop of civil war is conducted by a master hand, away from sentimentality.

The couple staged is engaging, with strong characters, and I really liked to find myself not face a damsel evaporated and apathetic, but facing a stubborn and intelligent young woman. Rodger is in turn charming and delightful, and I think if I had been in the place of Rosamond would have surrendered long before!

Even if the outcome is known in advance (they lived happily ... etc.), the journey of the characters is interesting and I am not bored for a moment.

So I do not know if I've been lucky in choosing this book, but it is certain that I would pursue this path.

For Atlance, Wellan, Liam, Nartrach, Katila, etc ... are now young adults, ready to forge their own history.

I do not regret my reading, quite the opposite, and I look forward to reading the next volume.

Twelfth and final volume of a Saga me hooked from the first pages, I was so in love with the universe and characters created by Anne Robillard. I trembled, hoped, and even shed a few larmouilles following their adventures, devouring volumes one after the other. And here comes "Irianeth" long awaited, and dreaded. The author has already proved that no person is immune, and I'm already wondering who will get out, and who fall into this final battle that will see the end of Amecareth and Asbeth. Yes, in my mind is clear, is the only possible outcome.

The last page is turned, the feelings are numerous. First the good fortune to have followed my hero again, and have had a good time. But also sad that this adventure ends. And then a bit of disappointment because of the end a little too quick and easy, and Amecareth Asbeth, who gave the Knights a hard time for years, were defeated too easily for my taste. Then some relationships between the characters were promising and are swept with a wave of the hand, the author has created an outlet providential.

So yes, some details are not as I would have liked, but we must recognize that all is well worth a visit, and "Emerald Knights" is still my meaning the largest (and best) fantasy saga Francophone past ten years.
